Founded in 1537, Asunción is one of the oldest cities in South America. It is known as the "Mother of Cities" because it was the starting point for colonial expeditions that founded more than 70 cities across the region, including Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
You can still see traces of history on every corner. Beyond the modern shopping malls and new skyscrapers, the historic center preserves its colorful facades, cobblestone streets, and the iconic Lapacho trees that paint the city in pink and yellow during winter. Walking along the Costanera at sunset, seeing the illuminated López Palace, and feeling the warmth of its people is a truly unique experience.
A picturesque neighborhood full of colors, narrow passages, and an incredible view of the port.
San Jerónimo Neighborhood, Asunción
It's super photogenic! Getting lost in its alleys and having a drink on the terraces while watching the river is the best part.
